We have been meaning to write blog posts about all of our favorite venues for a long time. Now in the midst of this pandemic, not only do we have the time but it is more important than ever to support our industry peers, especially those that without them, we would not have the locations to photograph the beautiful weddings that we capture.
We remember just a few short years ago that The Foundry was at the top of our list of wedding venues to photograph at. Technically, we weren’t even supposed to be photographing the first wedding we booked at The Foundry but the stars aligned and we were there. After that first wedding, we were hooked. The Foundry is the complete opposite of a traditional wedding venue. With it’s unique architecture, beautiful courtyard and location in Long Island City, it can be a photographer’s playground. Aside from the venue itself, a lot of our couples use the nearby Ravel Hotel for their wedding preparation photos. It has great rooftop views (permission needed first!) and some of the best hotel rooms we have seen.
Every wedding we photograph here is different. Because the space is raw, it provides so much versatility with how it can be used. Ceremonies and receptions can be indoors or outdoors. You can use a tent or not. We’ve seen couples create cool indoor or outdoor lounge spaces for their guests. You can really let your creativity flow at The Foundry and that’s the main reason we love it.
