New York City is known for its iconic landmarks, each offering a unique backdrop for engagement photos. As New York wedding photographers, many of our engagement sessions take place in NYC and we’ve put together our list of the most iconic NYC engagement photo locations to share with you today! From the lush landscapes of Central Park to the urban charm of Brooklyn Bridge, the city provides endless opportunities to capture your love story. Here are some of the most stunning locations to consider for your engagement photos (along with tips to ensure your shoot goes smoothly).

How to Choose a Location for Your Engagement Photos

Before we get into these beautiful spots in the city, let’s talk about how to pick the perfect location for your photos. There’s a few things to consider right away. First, decide if there’s somewhere sentimental that you want to include in your session. This might be your first date location, the neighborhood you walk together every night, or your venue. If nothing sparks your interest there, talk about your venue. What is the opposite location?

Maybe if you’re getting married right in the heart of the city, you’d want something like a park or beach so that you have photos of yourselves in two different locations. You can also think about what you might want to include in your session – a walk, a picnic, drinks, etc. That will inform the type of location you need. Finally, depending when your session will be, the location(s) you’re interested in will look different. Decide what type of year and vibe you want! Now that you’re thinking about where to go…

Central Park

Central Park is a quintessential NYC location for engagement photos. With its sprawling meadows, bridges, and charming pathways, it offers a variety of settings to match your vision. The park’s serene landscapes make it a favorite among couples. Early mornings are ideal to avoid the crowds and catch the soft, golden light. For a classic touch, consider spots like Bow Bridge or Bethesda Terrace.

Top of the Rock

For a breathtaking, panoramic view of New York City, Top of the Rock is your go-to spot. Located at Rockefeller Center, it offers a stunning view of the skyline, including the Empire State Building. Opt for a sunrise session to capture the cityscape in soft morning light and to avoid the busy crowds. The open-air observation deck provides a romantic and expansive backdrop for your photos.
