No matter what time of the year you choose to have your wedding, there will be some pros and cons!
The great news? Any season is beautiful!
You need to plan accordingly, so you aren’t thrown off by mother nature, what you will need to wear, or the need to possibly have an extra pair of footwear on hand!
If these are things you’ve thought about before the big day, you will be able to take them in stride. They may even add an extra special touch to your portraits!
Let’s go through what a wedding might look like in each season!
Winter weddings are gorgeous!
But, they do take some extra planning because of the sunset time. The hard part about a winter timeline is the fact that the sun sets around 5 pm.
This means that all your portraits must be done before then! A first look can ease some stress in your timeline if you are having your wedding in the winter. If you choose to go this route, your portraits will all be done before the ceremony, and you will get all the pictures you were hoping for!
A late afternoon wedding is a great idea in the winter to guarantee plenty of light for your photos.
If your heart is set on having a late evening wedding, we can certainly make that work. Just be aware, you may have a bit of downtime from 5 pm until the start of the ceremony. You will also need more coverage time to make sure that we squeeze all those portraits in during the day!
Holiday decorations, snowy settings, and cozy wraps? Your photos will look like they were pulled straight out of a bridal magazine! If you plan it right, a winter wedding can be oh-so-beautiful and worth it!
Summer weddings are amazing! We love that there is so much daylight!
In some months, the light will last until 8:30 pm!
So, if you’re having a summer wedding, you’ll need to plan on having a few minutes to slip out of the reception for some sunset portraits! You will NOT regret this!
This is the absolute best light of the day, and you’re going to want to have portraits during this time.
Usually, these portraits happen during dinner or open dancing, so no one even notices that you’re gone for a few minutes!
Check out that incredible glow!
Spring weddings are lovely because they are the perfect temperature!
But one of the cons of a springtime wedding is that allergies can start to flare up around the time you’ll be doing your portraits. We recommend having plenty of Claritin and Zyrtec on hand, just in case.
On the bright side- literally- spring weddings usually mean the potential for some blooms! Let us know if you have a favorite flower for us to be on the lookout for!
If we happen to find any type of blooming tree or plant at your venue, it will be worth it to give us a few minutes for portraits with it! You’ll LOVE the result!
Fall weddings are so popular because we all love the temperature and the colors!
A lot of our fall brides worry about color. We just want to encourage you that all we need is one tree with some color to make it look like fall! A little bit of color can go a long way!!
Because the days go from still being fairly long in early fall to being relatively short in late fall, your portrait time will vary depending on your wedding date. We’ll be sure to discuss this when we approve your final timeline!
As you can see, any season can make for stunning wedding photos! There are pros and cons to having your wedding in each season, but we promise to work with you to get the most stunning portraits possible no matter the time of year. We can’t wait to see when you choose to have your fantastic day!
